Thomas Nurse, Assistive Technology Consultant and Inspired Parent

Tom is a recognized public speaker and disability advocate on a variety of special education topics including assistive, instructional and accessible technology, self-determination, transition planning and special needs estate planning. He became involved in the disability movement fifteen years ago as a direct result of his daughter Shelby being born three months premature, then later diagnosed with Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy. In this passionate keynote address, Mr. Nurse tells his family’s story of Shelby’s use of assistive technology, from preschool to high school and her plans to move forward to adulthood and the world of work.
